Hooked on Horror...

 Halloween is fast approaching...

1. PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 1-4

What is it? Each Paranormal Activity is based on different families that are haunted by a spirit or demon that terrifies, terrorises and changes them and their loved ones forever... will they all make it out alive, or will they to become a spirit?

Number 4 is my personal favourite!

Where to watch? - All 4 Paranormal Activities are available for Netflix users! Alternatively, Prime Video users can watch Paranormal Activity 1 for free with the remaining 3 films available to rent for £3.49. Sky users can also purchase the films for the same price (£3.49) via the Sky Store.

Rotten Tomatoes Rating

  • Paranormal Activity 1 -  57% audience average rating
  • Paranormal Activity 2 - 48% audience average rating
  • Paranormal Activity 3 - 51% audience average rating
  • Paranormal Activity 4 - 34% audience average rating

Worth the watch?

  • I only recently watch all 4 of these films after coming across them on Netflix and I really enjoyed them. Despite the low ratings, as a huge horror fan these definitely matched up with some of the best horrors I have ever watched!
  • All 4 films are really good to watch if you like the sense of horror, but are more just for the jump scares.
  • Although the lowest rated by Rotten Tomatoes, Paranormal Activity 4 was by far my favourite!

2. THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS (1991)

Where to watch? - The Silence of the Lambs can be watched via Prime Video for Prime members, or Sky users can rent for the Sky Store for £3.49. The film is also available to rent for £3.49 on Youtube.

Unfortunately, there does not seem to be any free platforms to watch this on, but I will keep an eye out!

Rotten Tomatoes Rating 95% audience average rating

Worth the watch?

  • This is more of a psychological horror but will entertain you nonetheless.
  • The way in which the storyline is written really makes you feel scared of the mindset of these individuals and just how precise they plan their next attack, down to the exact second.
  • Really nice to see the female officer take on the task in a squad where the majority are male1

Worth the watch?

  • Out of all the Annabelle films, this was the one that really made me jump.
  • Although not extremely scary (in my opinion anyway), there was just something about this version that made it better than the rest.
  • I really think the young actresses done a fantastic job at making you jump various times throughout.
  • This is one you have to watch at night in the dark to get the true impact!

4. SCREAM (2015)

What is it? When a cyberbullying incident goes viral, a brutal murder in Lakewood brings up memories of a crime spree from the town's past, that has haunted some, intrigued others, and maybe just spawned a new executioner...

Where to watch? - The full 2 seasons of 'Scream' is available to all Netflix users! I have included a link to Series 1 Episode 1 below:

Rotten Tomatoes Rating - 60% audience average rating

Worth the watch? –

  • After watching this show once, I have to say I was disappointed when it was done!
  • Each episode will leave you wanting more, with your opinion on who the killer is changing all the time.
  • Even after watching the whole show, I have went back to watch it again numerous times.
  • The mysteriousness of some of the main characters really helps in confusing viewers on who the killer is, so you most likely wont know until the very end!

Rotten Tomatoes Rating - 67% audience average rating

Worth the watch? –

  • This is again a series I only found after coming across it on Netflix.
  • All 3 seasons will certainly make you jump, at the times you least expect it...
  • I will warn you though that this series is very gory, so do avoid if you are not keen on this!
  • Season 2 for me was by far the best, but I would still recommend watching all 3.
